I love this quote by Joseph Campbell. It reminds me of a “personal prayer” I wrote about a year ago, after realizing that I was looking for healing and answers through other people’s words without acknowledging what my own voice had to say.
I ask my higher self to be the guardian of the feelings that flow through me every time I read it.
For all the times I neglected to take care of myself on a physical, spiritual, financial level,
For all the times I did not honor myself with healthy boundaries,
For all the times that I cared more for other people’s opinions than for my own feelings,
For all the times I played small and hid my full potential,
For all the times I knew something wasn’t good for me, but still, ignored it,
For all the times I misunderstood a life lesson that was being lovingly presented to me,
For all the times I looked for reasons to be unhappy instead of appreciating what I had,
For all the times I lied or manipulated others, even in a subtle, or maybe unconscious way,
For every time I compared myself to others, forgetting the unique person that I am,
